Qiu Fazu, member of the Chinese Communist Party, senior acadimican of Chinese Academy Sciences, famous medical scientist and Tongji alumnus, passed away on the morning of June 14that his 94 because of illness.
On June 18th, the Universoty President Pei Gang led a delegation to Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan to attend the Ceremony of paying last respects to the remains of Acadimican Qiu Fazu. Zhou Jialun, secretary of the University Party Committee sent letter of condolences and had a wreath laid.
The farewell ceremony was solemn and serene with dirge. Acadimican Qiu Fazu’s coloured portrait was hung in the middle of the great hall and the elegiac couplet glorified his immortal spirit. His remains was laid among flowers and cypress.
Qiu Fazu (1914, 12, 06-2008, 6, 14), born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, was Chinese famous surgeon,Father of Chinese Surgery, medical educationist, acadimican of Chinese Academy Sciences and honorary dean of Medical Colleges of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Tongji University. His surgery operations were famous for precision.
