On April 10th, Prof. Rauhut, President of RWTH Aachen University and Prof. Guo Yubao, Director of Beijing Office, RWTH Aachen University visited Tongji University. President Pei Gang met Prof. Rauhut at noon. Executive Vice-President Li Yongsheng met the visitors and exchanged ideas on better implementation ofChinese Government Graduate Student Overseas Study Programof the China Scholarship Council. Li Guoqiang emphasized the Tongji’s feature of cooperation with Germany. He stated that RWTH Aachen University was a top-ranking technological university in the world and we were willing to recommend excellent students to study there for PhD degrees. President Rauhut also hoped to promote long-term cooperation and communication of professors between the two universities through this program. Therefore, he brought a list of professors in RWTH Aachen University who wanted to accept Chinese PhD candidates.
During the meeting with Yu Zhuoping, the President’s Assistant and Dean of Automotive College, Prof. Rauhut introduced the widely acclaimedAachen-Qinghuajoint cultivation of postgraduates program, and hoped to carry on similar cooperation with tongji University in the automobile field. Prof. Yu Zhuoping introduced the work done by professors in RWTH Aachen University on the joint cultivation of postgraduates including the designing of teaching syllabus, etc. Both parties suggested beginning with a 10+10 model.
