After one year’s planning, designing and construction,Tongji University—NEC RFID Innovation Centerwas unveiled on March 25^th.It was co-found by Tongji University and NEC Corporation, the transnational IT tycoon. At the same time, the two parties jointly held the China-Japan RFID Technology Development seminar of 2008, fully exploring the current situation, developing trend, and innovative application of RFID Technology in China and Japan and the prospect of the demand for RFID technology in informatization management of Enterprises.

TongjiUniversity—NEC RFID Innovation Centerwas situated in the Transportation Engineering College lab in Jiading Campus of Tongji. This center verified the leading-in effect of RFID technology through imitating all kinds of users’ circumstances and displayed the RFID applied technology in the visualized and personal experiencing form. At the same time, RFID Innovation Center provided cooperative partners with positive testing services of RFID project. It was reported that it was the only domestic RFID Innovation Center, which provided clients with positive testing services.

When RFID Innovation Center was firstly founded, it built demonstrative environment, such as manufacture sites, supply chains, logistics warehouses, stores, etc, and provided testing services from RFID labels in various circumstances, optimal position of reader, reading precision and distance, to conformation of all kinds of operation before leading-in the system and function improvement after. The services included the application of RFID technology in storage and retrieval management of products, automatic classification management, location management of operating workers, management of goods’ tracking in the logistic process, stocking and shipping management in circulating and retail trade, etc. It provided the clients with innovative RFID solution from the practical and feasible respect.
