Recently, Herbert Mang, the former President of Austrian National Academy of Sciences was conferred the “Honorary Professor of Tongji University”. Professor Li Yongsheng, the Executive Vice-President of the University addressed the ceremony and issued the certificate. Patrick Reichel, coordinator of Austrian Cultural Center and Prof. Roman Lackner of University of Munich attended the ceremony.

In his later words of thanks, Prof. Mang said, “I would like to express my great gratitude to Tongji University. And I believe Tongji University will have a better future.”

Prof. Mang is the Vice Governing of International Computational Mechanics Association, Governing of European Computational Mechanics Association, academician of American Academy of Engineering, Polish National Academy of Sciences, Croatian National Academy of Sciences and European Academy of Sciences. Despite his tight schedule, he devoted himself to the promotion of cooperation between Vienna University of Technology and Tongji University and finally contributed to the formal signature of cooperation agreement between two parties in 2005.
