On May 24th, Chairman Jintao Hu held discussions with German President Horst Koehler. After the discussion, both Chairman Jintao Hu and German President Horst Koehler attended the signing ceremony of such documents as cultures of the two countries and medical treatment. Among these documents is the joint-venture contract between Tongji University and Asklepios Hospital on Shanghai Sino-Germany Friendship Hospital project. Prof. Jialun Zhou, the director of our school committee; Prof. Hele Wu, vice-president of Simens; and Doctor Berman, president of Asklepios Hospital signed the contract representing the three sides.

The Sino-Germany Friendship Hospital project whose investment is over 10milllions is co-invested and co-built by Tongji University, Simens and the biggest privately-owned hospital in Germany, Asklepios Hospital. It is estimated to be used before 2010 Shanghai World EXPO. It will meet the market’s requirement through its advanced facilities, excellent management and patient-centered service.

After the contract signing ceremony, Jialun Zhou and Vice-principal Xiaolong Chen attended the dinner party held by Chairman Jintao Hu for Horst Koehler.
