May 21st, the “Asia-pacific World Heritage Training and Research Center”, the second co-established organization with UN after “school of environment and sustainable development” was set up at Wen Yuan building, Tong Ji University.
The Deputy Minister of Education Ministry and chairman of executive office of UNESCO Zhang Xinsheng, World Heritage Center of UNESCO Francesco Bandarin, the Vice-secretary of Shanghai government Li Yiping, the Vice-president of Tong Ji Li Yongsheng, commissioner of International Preservation of Culture Relics Mounir Bouchenaki, and Authorities of State Construction Ministry and Culture Relics Bureau attended the ceremony.
Designed for the purpose of reinforcing heritage protection and providing intelligent and information services, the research center will cooperate with UNESCO, provides services to the alien countries in Asia-pacific area, and undertakes training and research activities in world cultural heritage management.
At the same time, “international seminar of organization and operation of Asia-pacific world heritage training and research institute” was held. Representatives of world famous heritage protection organizations, academician and experts of relevant subjects from universities and research institutes home and abroad had a discussion on the subject like the organization, operation model of Center and the training programs.
