A few days ago, the memorandum signing ceremony of Tongji University’s Osaka branch was held in Osaka. Tongji University’s Osaka branch was co-built by Tongji University, Japanese Li Ming Guan University and Osaka city government. Our vice-principal Dongyuan Yang, the mayor of Osaka and the director-general of Li Ming Guan University signed the contract each representing the side. Yiren Jiang, the chairman of Shanghai CPPCC attended the ceremony.

The Osaka city government required our school to set up a branch school in Japan in 2004. Later this was included as one of the co-operations of the two sides in the joint-statement of Shanghai and Osaka when celebrating 30th anniversary of the two cities’ friendship. The Osaka branch aims at two kinds of education, namely education with record of formal schooling and education without record of formal schooling. The building of Osaka branch school is one of the measures to make our school international. The Osaka branch will certainly find new field in the education co-operation with Japan. It is virtually a window of our school to co-operate and exchange with Japan.
