The PACE Center supported by GM , EDS, Sun Microsystems and UGS was opened on Jia Ding campus on May 10th, which marked the establishment of the second center sponsored by the plan on campus. The center was received donation amount to 470 millions, including 700 set automobile product management software, 50 set working stations and skill training.
The Minister of Science and Technology and President of Tong Ji Wan Gang, the Deputy Mayor of Shanghai Hu Yanzhao, the Vice-president of GM (China) Chen Shi, the General Manager of Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center Bai Leimeng, and some other representatives and officials from EDS, sun Microsystems and UGS attended the ceremony.
PACE, promoted by GM in 1999 and co-implemented by the three other companies, was designed to provide advanced training course of the automobile products and practical experiences to the students in key universities in by donating computer assisted engineering tools.
It is reported that the PACE will be first applied in college of automotive studies, college of mechanical engineering, and college of civil engineering and other majors like industrial design.
