Siemens Donate Energy-saving Product

On the occasion of the refurbishment of the historical architecture “Wenyuan” building into eco-building, Siemens donated RMB 2 million worth of energy-saving building automated management system and lighting products for the refurbishment.

The donation ceremony was held on April 11that Sino-France Center at Tong Ji. The General Manager of Siemens (shanghai) Meng Fanchen and the Vice-president Chen Xiaolong jointly signed the donation agreement on behalf of two parties. The President Wan Gang, Mr. Peter Herweck, Executive Vice President, President of Siemens Automation and Drives and Member of the Management Board of Siemens Ltd., China, German Consul General of China Hai Dun, the General Secretary of Shanghai Information Committee, the Minister of Information Department of Shanghai Expo Bureau Zhou Weidong attended the ceremony.

Siemens Automation and Drives, Siemens Building Technology and Osram (China) Lighting Co., Ltd. jointly donated advanced automated management system and lighting products that will be deployed on air-conditioning / heating/ ventilation intelligent control, environmental comfort intelligent control and lighting intelligent control system to optimize the energy saving efficiency. For example, the air-con/heating/ventilation system will be centrally controlled and the discharge of the wind will be tempered automatically according to activities of people in the room. And the automated management system automatically controls the on-off function of air-con system according to indoor activities or run in economic mode while realizing the most comfortable environment for minimum energy consumption. The indoor lighting and curtain angle will be intelligently controlled and they will be adjusted according to outdoor environment to ensure comfortable indoor lighting and energy conservation.

As the world-famous modern architecture with a long history, Wenyuan Building is the only historical architecture of Bauhaus-style in China and is regarded as the classic model of modern architecture. To revitalize this classic architecture, our University injects ecological conceptions into old building's refurbishment, by adopting more than 10 new energy-saving technologies. The refurbishment of Wenyuan Building will be a new milestone for "protection and refurbishment on historical architectures with advanced ecological and energy-saving technologies" in China. It will re-open on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of Tongji University in May 2007.
