Tong Ji Signed Cooperation Contract with Monterey Marine-organisms Research Institute

In the afternoon of April 5th, the Vice-president Yang dongyuan of Tong Ji University and the Director of Monterey Marine-organisms Research Institute Steve Etchemendy signed the cooperation contract on behalf of two parties. Academician Mr. Wang Pinxian and officials from Science and Technology Department, the Foreign Affairs Department and School of Ocean and Earth Science attended the signing ceremony. According to the contract, two parties will cooperate in the ocean research and development.

The cooperation and exchange with international high level ocean sampling institute is to meet the requirements of the development of the subject “seabed process and sampling” in Tong Ji, which will concentrate on the sampling of the seabed process with modern technology instead of the indoor analysis and testing of the earth record.

The Monterey Marine-organisms Research Institute is a well-famed mechanism of ocean sampling and research, especially the MARS, which is considered the most authoritative sampling platform in the world. According to the contract, the cooperation between two parties will include exchanging of personnel, sharing the technology, equipment, ship time, and co-exploring the advanced sampling theory and technology.
