To recognize the outstanding contribution to cultural exchange between china and Italy, the Italian ambassador in China Riccardo Sessa awarded “Italy Union Star” Medal to academician Zheng Shilling of Tong Ji University, professor Jiang Chunbao in Nanjing Normal University, and professor Tang Jianmin in Shanghai International Studies University on behalf of the President of Republic of Italy on march, 19^th.

Since 1980s, Professor Zheng Shilling has been devoting himself in exchange and cooperation in construction between Chinese and Italian universities, governments and research institutes, especially in protection and exploitation of ancient buildings, and has made great achievements. The Medal is the recognition of the active contribution of Professor Zheng Shilling as well as the encouragement of Tong Ji University, which has made great efforts in exchange and cooperation in education, culture, and technology between China and Italy.

During the talk before the ceremony, the Deputy President Mr. Li Guoqiang introduced Sino-Italy College of Tong Ji University, the education and culture exchange activities between Italian universities and Tong Ji. The ambassador Riccardo Sessa praised highly the contribution of Tong Ji in education and research development and cooperation between two countries, and he also expressed the hope that two parties will enlarge the cooperation fields and further increase the communication in education and culture.
