On May 11th, Tongji signed a cooperative agreement about the Anting Hydrogen Station with BOC Group, the world-famous gas company. It is another key cooperation between Tongji and Shell after the agreement signed in the end of last year. As part of National 863 Project organized by China Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the program is to improve the commercialization of fuel cell automobiles in China. The hydrogen station is located in Shanghai International Automobile City in Anting, and is expected to complete in the end of 2006. It will provide hydrogen service for three buses and twenty cars.
Tongji is in full charge of the construction of the hydrogen station, while BOC will provide project and purchasing service like the compressing, storage and infusion of hydrogen, as well as the transmission of the compressed hydrogen to the station. Shell will cooperate with Tongji in the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the station.
BOC Group has taken parting in many hydrogen project globally, including the fuel cell bus project in London, Detroit and Vancouver. It is also engaged in projects like new catalytic oxygenation technology, new storage system, safety standard and new hydrogen manufacturing art.
