On the noon of February 9th, the ceremony for the departing of fuel cell sample motorcade was in front of the New Energy Automotive Engineering Center in Jiading Campus. Chen Liangyu, general secretary of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, declared the departure of the sample motorcade. Composed by ten automobiles, the motorcade is all fuel cell automobiles developed by Tongji, including ‘Chaoyue III’ and MPV. It signifies a big step forward for the industrialization of fuel cell autos.

It is reported that the main task for the first half of 2006 was to do experimental operation, providing real data for the perfection, modification and improvement of fuel cell automotive technology. Up till now, the accumulated mileage for fuel cell autos excess 36,000 km. According to normal requirement of automotive design and development, 100,000 is a crucial symbol. Therefore, it is important for the motorcade to cover 100,000 km.

At the same time Tongji cooperates with Shell to build the first hydrogen station in Shanghai International Automobile City.
