Fuel Cell Automobile Program Checked By Ministry of Technology

As an important part of national 863 Project, the Fuel Cell Automobile Program was checked and accepted by the Ministry of Technology. Attendants to the reporting meeting include Shi Dinghuan, counselor of the State Council and former secretary of the Ministry of Technology, leaders from Shanghai Foreign Economic Relation and Trade Commission, Shanghai Development and Reform Commission, Shanghai Technology and Science Department.

During the meeting, Tongji president Wan Gang introduced the general information about the program and reported the main capability index of the new generation fuel cell automobile. Since its beginning in January 2002, the team has developed three generations of fuel cell automobiles, namely ‘Chaoyue I’, ‘Chaoyue II’ and ‘Chaoyue III’. The program up till now has developed 59 patents of own intellectual property rights.

It is said that the team has assembled seven sample autos since August last year when ‘Chanoyue III’ passed the check and formed a mini motorcade, preparing for the model operation. The motorcade would tried running on roads in Shanghai for continuous half a year, and may collect as much first-hand data as possible.
