From May 29 to 30，the 2021 Annual Conference of the Institute of Urban Design under the Architectural Society of China (ASC) and the ASC Urban Design Forum were held at Tongji Architectural Design (Group) Co., Ltd.. Mr. PENG Zhenwei, Vice Secretary of the CPC Committee of Tongji University, Mr. LI Cundong, Secretary-General of ASC, and Mr. CAO Jiaming, President of the Architectural Society of Shanghai China (ASSC) attended the event and delivered speeches. Featuring board meeting, academic forum and study tour, this event was co-organized by the ASC Institute of Urban Design and Tongji University, hosted by the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University and the Urban Design and Planning Committee of ASSC with support from Tongji Architectural Design (Group) Co., Ltd.
The fourth plenary meeting of the First Board of the ASC Institute of Urban Design kicked off offline and online simultaneously on May 29, and was attended by more than 90 board members. Secretary-General LI Xuehua reported to the board members on the holding of the 2020 Annual Conference of ASC Institute of Urban Design, the organization of the 2020 Zhengzhou International Urban Design Conference, the preliminary selection of candidates for the 2020 ASC Urban Design Award, the organization of the 2020 Urban Design Student Exchange Camp of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and the holding of 2020 Beijing International Urban Design Forum, after which he laid out the work plan for 2021 for review by the board members. The board also voted on the addition of new members and the candidates for relevant posts. All members unanimously agreed to include 9 experts (LV Xiaoyong, XU Kai, CHEN Yong, ZHANG Jun, HOU Zhaohui, XU Xiaodong, GAO Yuchen, ZENG Peng, and ZANG Xinyu) into the board, and elected Executive Board Member GUI Xuewen as the Deputy Director Member and Board Member SHANG Qian as the Deputy Secretary-General. During the session of themed discussions, attendees shared their insights into the prospective development of the urban design industry, the practices of urban renewal, and how to spur the thriving growth of the ASC Institute of Urban Design.
At the academic forum held on May 30th under the theme of "Traditions and Challenges", more than 100 urban design experts and scholars from universities, design institutes and industry organizations discussed the opportunities and challenges brought to urban design by the sweeping transformation of urban development models, and shared their fruitful works and first-hand experience associated with urban design.
