The 2021 "Peer Initiative" Summer Internship Training Session for College Students was held at Siping Campus on July 9. Participants included the leadership of the Organization Department of Tongji University, the Graduate Affairs Office of the CPC Tongji University Committee, and the Tongji University Youth League, teachers of the "Peer Initiative", teachers from different provinces and municipalities, the representatives of the outstanding selected graduates as well as the students under the 2021 "Peer Initiative".

The year 2021 marked the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan and also the centenary of the CPC. To encourage more Tongji students to serve the people and society under the traditional concept of "moving forward with the motherland and helping the world with science and education", the Tongji University Youth League selected 298 outstanding students to go to the CPC and government offices and communities in Chongqing Municipality, Fujian Province, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Hunan Province, Sichuan Province, Shanxi Province, Shanghai Municipality and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from July to September, and a large number of Tongji students were further inspired to advance into a new journey to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects. At the session, eight teachers responsible for the eight provinces and municipalities unveiled Tong Xiaoben, the mascots of the "Peer Initiative".

The training session also released We Are Walking Together, a song composed for the "Peer Initiative".
