On December 22, the Photo Exhibition Tour on Archives of the Students Studying in the former Soviet Union was inaugurated at the Zhonghe Building, Siping Campus of Tongji University. The event was organized by the United Front Work Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, the CPC Municipal Work Committee on Education and Health, and the Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association, and hosted by Tongji University.

More than 100 people attended the inauguration ceremony, including ZHU Lingling, vice president and secretary-general of the Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association, LV Peiming, executive vice president of Tongji University and president of the Tongji Branch of the Overseas Returned Scholars Association, ZHANG Haifeng, director of the former Soviet Union Returned Scholar Branch of the Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association, people from the United Front Work Department of the Tongji University CPC Committee, Tongji Branch of the Overseas Returned Scholars Association, Faculty Work Department, Personnel Office, Tongji University Archive, as well as teachers from Tongji University returned scholars from the former Soviet Union and Russia, members of the Tongji Branch of the Overseas Returned Scholars Association and students from Tongji.

ZHU Lingling thanked the University on behalf of the organizers for its strong support for the exhibition. According to her, this photo exhibition is significant for improving CPC history learning and education, and it also serves as a window of the United Front system to the world. She highly praised the great contributions made by the overseas returned scholars represented by Academician WANG Pinxian to the development of Tongji University and of Shanghai and of the country. She hoped that students of the next generation will understand and inherit the unswerving commitment of the elder generations, follow the CPC, pursue the truth, study hard, and make selfless dedication, and create a bright future for the country.

LV Peiming expressed his thanks to the organizers and extended his warm welcome to them for their visit to photo exhibition tour at Tongji University. According to him, Tongji University attached great importance to this exhibition and regarded it as an important part of the spiritual study of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC. He hoped that, by learning the outstanding historical contributions made by those overseas returned scholars in the past 100 years during which the Party was established, developed and strengthened, students and teachers of Tongji University will carry forward the pioneering spirit in the new era.

JIANG Caizhen, an alumnus of Tongji University who once studied in the former Soviet Union and now a prestigious professor at the School of Foreign Languages, shared what she saw and heard and her experience in the former Soviet Union and Russia. She said that, after comparing the two experiences of studying abroad, students should always follow the CPC's commands and calls and remember their original aspirations and missions. She also called on all teachers to cultivate socialist builders and successors.

Following the opening ceremony, DING Xiaoying, a young teacher from Tongji University's archives and a Tongji alumna who once studied in Russia, explained the photos to the guests, teachers and students.

The exhibition was on display at the Zhonghe Building, Siping Campus for two weeks until January 5, 2022.
