Students from SICIP sends their World Intellectual Property Day 2022 Youth Initiative to the world
April 26, 2022 marks the 22nd World Intellectual Property Day. Students from Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, Tongji University, sent their World Intellectual Property Day 2022 Youth Initiative to the world, in collaboration with other IP youth groups in Shanghai, calling on young people to raise the awareness of IP, promote IP application and strengthen IP protection.
At the joint initiative made by China and Algeria in 2000, the United Nations World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) made the decision to celebrate the first World Intellectual Property Day on April 26, 2001, the 31st anniversary of the establishment of WIPO Convention, so as to promote IP in all walks of life for protection of IP rights, to create a legal environment that encourages knowledge innovation and protects IP rights.
The theme of World Intellectual Property Day 2022 is IP and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future, which focuses on contemporary youth. The youth today who are full of wisdom and potential, are digital aborigines and an important force in protecting IP rights. Therefore, we encourage young people to create a better and more sustainable future with vitality and creativity.
Today, students of SICIP, Tongji University issued the following youth initiative to young people all over the world as well as governments, organizations, and individuals who are committed to IP protection and development.
We call on youth to build respect for knowledge and IP. IP is the crystallization of knowledge, and respecting knowledge entails respecting IP in the era of knowledge economy. We advocate youth in all walks of life should promote IP culture, lead the society to establish IP and science awareness, and respect and protect IP rights.
We call on youth to innovate and create in generating IP. Young people should learn science knowledge, form scientific spirit, and spread scientific ideas. We advocate youth to innovate and create bravely using great talent and imagination. Youth should create for high level of human well-being and promote high quality of development of IP.
We call on youth to promote fair competition utilizing IP. IP spurs competition in business, bringing significant and unique value to enterprises. We advocate youth in industries to use the competitive advantages accumulated by IP and to commercialize the intellectual achievements and creative products, as well as to promote market prosperity and fair competition.
We call on youth to protect IP and defend IP system. Youth should uphold the rules of globalization and defend the IP system. We advocate youth to participate in discussions with policymakers and provide objective and truthful opinions with different perspectives for rulemaking. Youth should support and practice strict IP protection and resist infringement.
Young people who are full of energy and intelligence are exploring the unknown, harvesting new knowledge, creating and inventing for a better life. We encourage the youth across the world to devote into generating, utilizing and protecting intellectual property rights, to promote international cooperation on IP, and to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
Young students of Shanghai International Intellectual Property School of Tongji University hereby call on young people from all walks of life to make things happen right from ourselves, promote IP protection and development, promote scientific research and innovation, promote international cooperation, make the world move towards a more sustainable future, and create a good atmosphere for building a new future of world IP.
