At the 41st Chinese Control Conference (CCC2022), which concluded on July 27, the paper "A Unified Approach for Safety Critical Control Problem via Output Regulation Theory and Barrier Function" jointly written by WANG Xiaoyu, LV Ziliang, Ph.D students of the Department of Control Science and Engineering, School of Electronic and Information Engineering, Tongji University, and their supervisor, researcher DONG Yi, won the 28th "Guan Zhao-Zhi Award". The "Guan Zhao-Zhi Award" is one of the highest Youth Academic Awards in the field of control theory in China. It selects one to two papers from all contributions to the conference. This is the first time that graduate students from Tongji University have won the award.

Closing ceremony of the 41st Chinese Control Conference (CCC2022)

Doctoral students of School of Electronic and Information Engineering of our University won the "Guan Zhao-Zhi Award"
The tutor, researcher DONG Yi, confirmed that Tongji students had won this important award at this prestigious conference in the field of control theory, which is the embodiment of interdisciplinary cooperation achievements in control engineering, intelligent science and technology and other disciplines of Tongji University, and represents the crystallization of cross cooperation with the Shanghai Autonomous Intelligent Unmanned System Science Center. The science center has employed a number of outstanding scholars, both domestic and foreign, formed a first-class research force, and produced a number of influential and innovative achievements in such fields as intelligent sensing, intelligent chip, single body development and multi-body collaboration. In the future, the team will rely on the cross-disciplinary platform formed by the Institute of Telecommunications and the Science Center and will undertake a number of important activities. These include continuing to promote the scientific research of multi-disciplinary integration; deepen the training of talents in the integration of industry and education; face cutting-edge issues of science and technology and major national needs; and contribute to the cultivation of specialist talents to comprehensively address the needs of social development such as through intelligent manufacturing, smart city and smart medical care.
The first author, Wang Xiaoyu, is a direct doctoral student majoring in control science and engineering at Tongji University in 2020. Under the guidance of his tutor, he mainly studies the safety control of nonlinear systems. The award-winning paper mainly aims at the state security problem of intelligent unmanned systems at the physical level. It constructs the performance index function based on output regulation theory and the control obstacle function and designs the safety critical control strategy to resolve the system trajectory safety and asymptotic tracking problem. It further discusses the basic idea of solving the multi-objective control problem when safety and tracking cannot be completed at the same time. Smart logistics and other fields have broad application prospects.

It is reported that the 41st Chinese Control Conference received more than 2,000 academic papers from home and abroad. Among the many applicants, and after several rounds of strict expert communication and conference reviews, five papers were shortlisted for the final oral examination. Following the secret ballot of the Award Committee, the paper written by Wang Xiaoyu, LV Ziliang and DONG Yi won the " Guan Zhao-Zhi Award ".
The "Guan Zhao-Zhi Award" was set up to encourage young scientific and technological personnel engaged in system control theory and its application to make world-class achievements; promote the development of control science; and remember and commemorate Professor GUAN Zhao-Zhi who made important contributions to the development of control theory and its application in China. Professor GUAN is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a well-known mathematician and control theory expert of both domestic and international renown. He devoted his life to the research and development of mathematics, control science and systems science, and made important contributions to this end.
