On the morning of September 2, the list of winners of the "Metauniverse Lighting up Intelligent Driving AI Driving Simulation Competition" was announced at the Intelligent Driving Forum of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference(WAIC). Tongji University's "Tuling TiEV" unmanned driving team won second place.

Tongji University's "Tuling TiEV" unmanned driving team won second place in the "Metauniverse Lighting Intelligent Driving AI Driving Simulation Competition".
The team of "Tuling TiEV" is composed of ZHAO Junqiao, associate professor of the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, Dr. ZHOU Hongtu as the team leader, and HUANG Chang, ZHANG Hai, ZHANG Xiao, JIANG Ziheng, and WANG Shengkun as the team members. The competition task consists of common driving scenes on complex urban roads, including overtaking, traffic light crossings, avoiding non-motor vehicles, unprotected left turns, intersection traffic game, pedestrians crossing the road, and other tasks. The decision-making planning algorithm for unmanned driving participating in this competition was developed by the "Tuling TiEV" unmanned driving team. The team will continue to work hard in the frontier research field of unmanned driving and promote the further development of unmanned driving technology in the future.

The award certificate
As the only AI driving simulation competition of the Hackathon in the 2022 WAIC, the competition had two categories of "Challenge" and "Professional", attracting teams from both universities and enterprises. Twenty teams from Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University, Beijing University of Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin Engineering University, and Chang'an University among others in the "Challenge". After two rounds of preliminary and final contests, Tongji University's "Tuling TiEV" unmanned driving team finally won second place.
