Professor LOU Yongqi's team heads the design of the Shanghai Pavilion of the 5th China International Import Expo

November 09, 2022

The 5th China International Import Expo started on Nov. 5 and will last until Nov. 10.  Tongji Wisdom continues to contribute to the success of the event. The Shanghai Pavilion, which was designed under the auspices of Tongji University, and continues to appear in the central square of the National Convention and Exhibition Center, contains three exhibition zones: the time-honored brand "Chinese Centennial Chapter", the local new consumer brand "Fashion Leader", and the Brand Experience Zone. A total of 56 famous Shanghai brands, 133 new products of the year, and 14 new products customized for the Shanghai Pavilion of the CIIE are on show. The design of the Shanghai Pavilion was headed by LOU Yongqi, Vice President of Tongji University and Professor of the College of Design and Innovation.

With the abstract "map of Shanghai" as the overall spatial body image and the "Yangtze River estuary" as the main entrance, the Shanghai Pavilion refines the hydrological trend of the Huangpu River. It divides the river into two sides Puxi (west of the Huangpu River) and Pudong (east of the Huangpu River), encompassing two exhibition zones of "Chinese Centennial Chapter" and "Fashion Leader" on both sides of the river. Visitors can experience the inheritance and innovation of Shanghai's commercial culture from different perspectives.

Real-time mapping of environment screen through interactive technology and AI algorithm

In the preface hall of the Shanghai Pavilion, the interactive technology and AI algorithm are used to map the environmental images in real-time to create an interesting interactive exhibition experience for the visitors. Artificial intelligence is combined with art design and exhibition scenes.

"Fashion Leader" Exhibition Zone

The "Fashion Leader" Exhibition Zone, which focuses on the original design, quality manufacturing, cultural marketing, and sustainable development, selects 14 leading local brands of Shanghai's "first economy" and representative brands of local, new online consumption, and launches 6 new products of "Debut in CIIE.”

Brand Experience Hall

The Brand Experience Zone creates an immersive exhibition experience. Visitors can taste the Shanghai flavor with Shanghai-style cultural features in the "Shanghai Cafe" while experiencing 23 Shanghai food brands and 4 new products, "Debut in CIIE".

This year, the Shanghai Pavilion continues to show a digital twin, "Shanghai Pavilion on the Cloud,” which not only synchronizes offline booths and exhibits, but also superimposes brand promotion, online negotiation, online transactions, and streams. Visitors who cannot visit the site in person can "travel around the Shanghai Pavilion with a mobile phone" to experience the convenience and wonder of "cloud purchase in cloud Shanghai" while staying home.

In addition, the distorting Magic Mirrors of the Great World, representative of the commercial characteristics of Shanghai in history, is used as a clue throughout the exhibition hall to reflect the environment in the mirror, thus integrating the new with the old. Led by green consumption and sustainable development, renewable and recyclable stands are set up for more exhibitions to be rebuilt and reused in other places.
