The appointment of ZHENG Qinghua as President of Tongji University and vice secretary of the University's Party Committee was approved by the Central Committee of CPC not long ago. On February 24, Tongji University held a meeting of teachers and administrators. A leader from the Central Organization Department announced the approval of the Central Committee and delivered a speech at the meeting. Mrs. WENG Tiehui, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education and member of the Party Leadership Group of MOE, and Mr. HUA Yuan, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, attended the meeting and made speeches. The meeting was chaired by Professor FANG Shouen, Party Secretary of Tongji University.

Present at the meeting were leaders from the Central Organization Department, MOE, and Shanghai, current and retired leaders of Tongji University, and leaders from schools and departments, professors, and faculty staff.

Brief introduction of ZHENG Qinghua

ZHENG Qinghua, born in January 1969, holds a doctoral degree in engineering and is a professor and a member of the Communist Party of China. He was the vice president and executive vice president of Xi'an Jiaotong University.
