On the afternoon of March 23rd, Peter Lizák, Ambassador of Slovakia to China, Kamila Kukova, Acting Consul General of Slovakia Consulate General in Shanghai, and other people from the Slovakia Consulate General in Shanghai visited Tongji University and attended a documentary show of Hudec: Architect Who Changed the Face of Shanghai. President ZHENG Qinghua and Vice President LOU Yongqi met with Peter Lizák and his party and attended the documentary show afterward.

Slovak Ambassador to China at Hudec documentary show

ZHENG Qinghua thanked Ambassador Lizák for choosing Tongji as the first stop of his visit to universities in Shanghai and introduced the development of Tongji University to Mr. Lizák. He said that Slovakia was one of the earliest countries to establish diplomatic relations with New China, and Hudec was not only a hero of Slovakia, but also the pride of Shanghai and the messenger of Sino-Slovak friendship.

Mr. Lizák said that this year marked the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Slovak Republic, the 74th year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Slovakia, and the 130th anniversary of the Slovak architect Hudec. Over the years, Slovak architect Hudec and his series of architectural works have become an important link between China and the West. In the future, I hope to further promote the exchanges and cooperation between Tongji University and Slovak universities.

LOU Yongqi introduced Tongji's international cooperation, which was followed by a briefing of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) about the development of the internationalization of the College and its relations with Hudec.

Teachers and students from CAUP, College of Design and Innovation, School of Foreign Languages, School of Freshmen, School of Politics and International Relations, and School of Life Science and Technology watched the documentary Hudec: Architect Who Changed Shanghai's Face.
