Professor YUAN Feng Wins Auguste Perret Prize for Technology in Architecture from UIA

The UIA awards are presented on a triennial basis to recognize international achievements in the field of architecture. The awards consist of five categories, including Prize for Urban Planning and Design, Prize for Technology in Architecture, Prize for Architectural Writing, Prize for Sustainable and Humane Environments, and the Prize for Implemented Architecture Serving the Impoverished.

Professor YUAN Feng has long focused on a humanistic perspective on man-machine collaboration, integrating intelligent design with digital construction. Through the concept of green performance he has continuously explored the theory and practice of contemporary architecture. He has published 18 books in both Chinese and English. In 2011, he founded the global DigitalFUTURES Society and held the Computational Design and Robotic Fabrication International Conference, and served as the editor-in-chief of Architectural Intelligence. For over a decade, he has made Tongji University a global hub for the theory, research, and practice of intelligent design and robotic construction in architecture.

In 2015, Professor YUAN Feng's team took the lead in developing a common technology platform for prefabricated and assembly-based building robot equipment.

In 2023, Professor YUAN Feng was awarded Honorary Fellowship of the American Institute of Architects. In 2022, the Tongji University "Yongan Heart" poverty alleviation project, which he led, won the Civic Building category of the Dezeen Awards (the only Chinese project awarded in the architectural category); the "Wuzhen Internet International Convention Center" won the Honor Awards for Architecture from the American Institute of Architects (two winners globally). In 2020, he received the Academic Innovation Award (ACADIA) for his global academic innovation.
