The final of the 2nd College Electrical and Electronic Engineering Innovation Competition was held in Beijing from August 18th to 20th. Under the guidance of teachers HU Bo and ZHANG Wenhao, a team composed of six students LIU Zongcheng, XIA Lei, WEI Xiao, YANG Chenjunyan, ZHAO Jianpei and JIN Jin from the College of Electronic and Information Engineering of Tongji joined the competition. They designed a DC/DC non-isolated bidirectional converter with high efficiency and high-power density, and won the first prize in the final.
Hosted by China Electrotechnical Society, this competition had three sessions of "software competition", "hardware competition" and "enterprise competition" along four divisions of new energy and comprehensive energy, future power grid, energy storage and power industry under the theme of "Meeting Double Carbon and Realizing New Power System Solutions". The event followed the frontier of engineering technology closely and received a total of 811 entries from more than 200 universities across the country. Fifty-four teams advanced to the finals after the preliminary competitions in April and the semi-finals in June. Tongji University team participated in the enterprise competition of Schneider Electric Go Green Power Electronics. Their work was DC/DC non-isolated bidirectional converter with high efficiency and high-power density, which required bidirectional conversion between DC 50-550V and DC 580-750V, with power bigger than 10kW and working frequency bigger than 100kHz.
They designed laminated bus bars and uninterrupted power switching to meet the requirements for performance indexes of the competition. Their design featured high efficiency, high power density and high reliability, suitable for new energy vehicles, energy storage systems and microgrids. The students demonstrated their solid theoretical foundation, excellent teamwork, outstanding presentation skills at the on-site defense, which won unanimous praise from the judges. According to LIU Jie from Schneider Electric, the Tongji University team had a solid theoretical foundation and well-organized report with strong support of details, which demonstrated their successful turn of theory into reality. The whole team showed their being united and cooperative in that all team members had an opportunity to speak and perform. The confidence and fluency they staged in the on-site defense were impressive, which showed their full understanding and mastery of their work. He expressed his wish for the students to maintain their innovative spirit and keep improving themselves.
