The Jiading Campus, located at 4800 Cao’an Road, Jiading District, Shanghai, covers an area of 1,135,600 square meters with a floor area of414,300 square meters. There are a total of12,165 students, including 1,892 Ph.D. students, 4,119 Master’s degree students, and 6,154 Bachelor’s degree students. The number of faculty and staff members amounts to 1,370. This is a new campus, construction of which was completed in 2004 and put into use in the same year after the plot of land was allocated to Tongji by the Shanghai Municipal Government in 2001.

This campus accommodates the School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Material Science and Engineering, School of Electronics and Information Engineering, School of Automotive Studies, School of Transportation Engineering, School of Software, School of Economics and Management, School of Communication and Art, Research Institute of Railway and Urban Rail Transit, Sino-GermanInstitute (Chinesisch-Deutsches Hochschulkolleg), and Sino-German College of Applied Sciences (Chinesisch-Deutsche Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften).

The future orientation of Jiading Campus: a campus with a distinction in engineering that focuses on disciplines in transportation, information, and equipment engineering. It plays and will continue to play an important part in Shanghai International Automobile City.
