GUO Chongqing was born in Fuping, Shanxi Province in June 1933. He graduated from Harbin Industrial University in 1957. He was elected Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in the Division of Mechanic and Vehicle Engineering in 1995. As a well-known design master of China, he is deputy director of Division of Engineering Management, Chinese Academy of Engineering, a member of the Society of Mechanical Engineering of China, honorary chairman of Association of Science and Technology of Henan Province, and a member of the Central Committee of Jiusan Society. Professor Guo has been working in the field of engineering design and consultancy for four decades. He acted as chief designer for over thirty key construction projects in our country. He was awarded the title of Master of Engineering Design by the State Construction Ministry. The projects he led won the first prize of National Advancement of Science and Technology, one gold medal of National Excellent Designs, and three silver medals of National Excellent Designs.
