The Shanghai Call Center was open to the public in May 2006. It offers 24-hour free services to international people and providing information in policy consultation, translation in emergencies, information on public transport and mobile phone usage, Internet information consultation, and temporary translation at government projects and exhibitions. The services are available in 15 languages including English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Malay, Indonesian, Portuguese and Czech.
