ZHOU Xingming is a distinguished computer scientist. At present, he is a professor in the School of Computer Science and Technology, National Laboratory of Parallel and Distributed Processing, and Tongji University. In 1993, he was elected member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

From the early 1960s to the late 1970s, he participated in the development of transistor computers, integrated circuit computers, and million-scale subordinate mainframe computers. He was engaged in the overall scheme research, system logic design, circuit design and development, and system debugging. Professor ZHOU has made innovative work on the high-temperature stability of germanium transistor circuits, anti-interference of TTL signal transmission, and fast division algorithms. From the late 1970s to 1992, he developed China's first supercomputer Galaxy I (chief of the main system), China's first all-digital real-time simulation computer Galaxy Simulation I (chief), and a supercomputer of parallel computing named Galaxy II(Chief Designer), China's first computer that is oriented towards scientific and engineering computing. He led the entire development process, and made innovative work in the overall plan, CPU structure, RAS technology plan, system interface protocol, etc., and overcame many technical difficulties. His research fields in recent years include high-performance computing, mobile computing, and microprocessor architecture.
